Are you dreaming of a successful career in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (OBG) in Ireland? Earning the prestigious MRCPI in OBG could be the right path to making that dream a reality. To achieve membership of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI), you need to clear two important exams: the MRCPI OBG Part 2 Written exam and the MRCPI OBG Part 2 OSCE.
To be eligible for the MRCPI OBG Part 2 Written exam, one of the following requirements must be met:
Many candidates prefer to focus on MRCOG Part 1, as it aligns directly with obstetrics and gynaecology. Currently, MRCPI Part 1 in obstetrics and gynaecology is unavailable.
In addition to the qualifications mentioned above, candidates must also complete a minimum of 18 months of post-registration training in accredited positions. This training must include at least nine months in obstetrics and nine months in gynaecology (or a combination of both). The positions must be recognised by the Institute of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists at RCPI and be a minimum of six months in duration. This training must be completed by January for the March exam or by August for the September exam.
To qualify for the MRCPI OBG Part 2 OSCE, the following criteria apply:
Success in the MRCPI OBG exams requires not only theoretical knowledge but also strong clinical skills in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology.
