MRCPI in Obstetrics and Gynecology: Are You Eligible to Apply? 

Are you in the pursuit of achieving a successful OBG career in Ireland? The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (MRCPI) in OBG exam is the golden ticket that sets your paths right.. Are You Eligible to Take MRCPI OBG 2 Written Exam

Before deciding to sit for the MRCPI Part II Written exam, you should check your eligibility. 

If you have any one of the following qualifications, you are eligible to apply for the MRCPI OBG 2 written exam: 

MRCOG Part I (exemption from MRCOG Part I is not accepted) 

RCPI Professional Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (only awarded from 2022 on) 

MRCPI Part I (General Medicine or Paediatrics) obtained within the last six years 

MRACOG (Australia) 

MRNZCOG (New Zealand) 

FCOG (SA) 

FCPS (O and G) (Pakistan) 

MRANZCOG 

MMed (O and G) (Malaysia) – 2008 onwards only 

As per the eligibility requirements published by RCPI, the aspirants must have completed 18 months of post-registration training in recognized posts along with 9 months in Obstetrics and nine months in Gynaecology departments. Candidates can also do obstetrics and gynaecology training in a combined post too. All your training and certifications must be recognized by the Institute of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists at RCPI. 

What Documents are Required while Applying? 

When you apply for this exam, you will need to upload scanned copies of the following documents: 

Primary medical degree. 

An attested copy of your primary medical degree is needed. Only original parchment Diploma copies will be accepted by RCPI, no transcripts or certificates. 

Part I or equivalent qualification certificate. 

Since RCPI currently does not offer MRCPI Part I in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and the candidates are applying for MRCPI OBG 2 written exam, a copy of your Part I or equivalent qualification is necessary. For MRCOG Part I, you will need your official Part 1 Pass letter along with the application. For FCPS and other equivalent qualifications, you will need the official parchment Diploma copies to apply for the Part 2 written exam in MRCPI OBG. 

Testimonial form. 

A testimonial form completed and signed by two referees is mandatory to take the exam. Aspirants can download the blank testimonial form from the official RCPI website. 

If your degree is not in English, aspirants must attach an official translation of the same together with your medical degree.
